Another Abstract Piece

vsarts.org

Here we see another abstract piece.  This is another painting that does not really tell a story of any kind yet a lot can still be inferred from it.  The vertical line of yellow must have some important meaning as it is the only color except for the painting's blue background.  Also, the edges are a lot more white and lighter looking than the rest of the painting.  The artist definitely had some meaning behind what he or she was doing while painting this and he or she without a doubt wants the observer to ponder and think about what exactly a piece like this means.

No colors but amazing shades

vulcaniasubmarine.com

This is another piece that lacks real colors.  The artist is so skilled with shading it doesn't really matter though.  While the entire piece is black and white each section looks so different from the last that it gives the observer a sense of color in it.

simple

fedoraproject.org

This is a very simple piece yet there is still so much to it.  Do the two clouds represent anything particular and is there a particular reason there are only two clouds?  What is the design on the hot air balloon and does it mean anything?  Is there a reason that the sky is so dark yet someone is flying in a hot air balloon still?  Is there even anybody actually in the hot air balloon?  No matter how simple a piece may be there are still always questions and meanings within it.

CGI Woman

my.opera.com

This is another computer generated image.  I just like pointing out how far computers and computer graphics have come.  This woman almost looks like a real person even though she was created entirely from the mind and mathematical equations of the artist.

Simple sculpture

At first this sculpture looks simple and perhaps so some not very good.  A closer look however reveals much detail in it and even a somewhat realistic human face form as well.

Great Use of Red

my.opera.com

Once again, another artist that makes great use of shades of black and white and amazing use of lines.  My favorite part of this piece is by far the red in the eyes though.  It makes the demon really stand out and have an evil look and aura to him.

Waves

fedoraproject.org

Similar to my last post this artist is great with using one color, blue again, to make an entire eye catching piece.  This one however, definitely differs from that last piece I posted because this one is much more abstract and does not really tell any clear or definite story.

Amazing Colors

graphicmania.net

This artist does such an amazing job with colors and more than that with really just one color, blue, and different shades of it.  It's so cool how just one color can be used to create a breathtaking piece such as this one.

Words in Hair

beta.art21.org

I find the unique and odd things some artists do intriguing.  This artist chose to write different words in the woman's hair.  Were is not for all the words written haphazardly throughout her hair this painting would be a lot less interesting and would convey a whole different meaning.

I find it amazing how computers and computer artists can use real math equations and numbers to create such realistic looking art.  While not the same as hand painting or drawing computer art is still art just in different ways.

Simple but Still Good

case-badges.com

This is a very simple and somewhat stereotypical piece in my opinion.  However, the artist works really well in creating the texture especially for the four paint colors by making them pop out and look 3D.

Dinosaur

dezinerfolio.com

The lines in this are amazing.  There must be hundreds to thousands of them that all come together to make this dinosaur look very realistic.

Crazy

krizalid.net

I had to post this piece just because it is so unique and different than another I have seen.  It really makes me wonder what the artist wants his or her audience to take away from this piece.

Abstract

fedoraproject.org

This is an example like those we went over in class; a piece that really does not tell any type of story.  Nonetheless it still is artwork and definitely catches the eye and make the viewer think about what it means and what the artist is trying to convey.

Another Woman

sfstation.com

The artist really does a nice job with the red hair.  Because the rest of this piece lacks color everywhere else the red really stands out and catches the eyes.

Woman

I like that this piece is somewhat realistic while at the same time many of the lines and colors give an unrealistic more abstract fee.

Star Wars

damnfunnypictures.com

This piece shows a lot of the things we have been learning in our lectures.  There are many lines which create the shapes of the characters as well as the setting.  The artist uses color very well choosing bright vibrant hues of the colors.  The characters even cast the appropriate shadows for a more realistic feel.

Royal Flush

suavemode.com

While at first glance this looks like a very simple piece one must not overlook the details.  A close look at the ashtray reveals many lines, shapes and designs.  The design and detail within the lines of the smoke add to this piece as well.  Looking very closely you can even see what looks like a bit of shadow cast by the smoke.

Forest

amazingonly.com

After our lecture on shadows and lighting this piece caught my eye.  The artist makes great use of shadows and adds just the right amount of light to give it a realistic late daytime feel.

Cool Car

coool-pics.blogspot.com

The designs the artist created on this car are extremely detailed.  While there is no color used the lines and shapes the artist is able to make are quit extraordinary.  Using just light and dark variations within the designs this car is now an amazing piece of art.

Cool Runnings

freespiritart.com

I really like the way the artist uses lighting and shadows to make this painting appear 3D.  Looking at this at a glance it could be mistaken for a photograph.  The shadows in the water really add realism to the painting.

Link on a Wall

http://www.4colorrebellion.com/archives/2006/12/26/image-of-the-day-link-on-a-wall/

I found how the artist uses the natural lines and blocks on the wall to create this image very cool.  They merely added color to already existing shapes and created something entirely new a different on the wall.

Ron Mueck piece

http://blog.peaceworks.net/2007/08/draft/

I found this Ron Mueck piece on someone's blog.  I find his work fascinating; to be able to create such perfect detail and realism on such a large scale shows a great degree of skill.

Cast Circle Dancers

hiandlomodern.com

Since we had a lesson on group art I found this piece very interesting and also different from the ones we saw in our lecture.  All the group art we looked at was somewhat to very realistic, this however is a very abstract group art piece.  While you can make out that there are five people holding hands in a circle anything else about the piece is impossible to determine definitively.

Big Horse

igougo.com

Also found this one by typing in sculptures in google images.  This is a very good sculpture of a horse especially considering how big it is.  The artist makes use of negative space to make the horse look like it is in mid motion and about to take off and run or possibly attack.  Different textures are used to define the horse's muscles, mane, tail and hooves.

Bubble Gum Sculpture

photopumpkin.com

After reading the unit on sculptures I googled sculptures to see different types of modern sculptures people have created.  This one was made entirely with gum.  I find it amazing the different types of things artists use to make sculptures.  The texture the artists uses to make distinctions between the hair, face, lips, etc. is amazing.  While the artists may have only used gum and only one color of gum at that they were still able to use different textures to create a very good sculpture of a face.

Crazy Colors

acornking.blogspot.com

I really liked the use of colors in this picture.  The artists uses a variety of colors as well as colors within colors the really make his work stand out.  While this picture may not have a lot of fine detail the artist makes great use of lines to clearly create the image of a man with sunglasses.

Rutgers Beer Pong Table

My friend Kevin Airey made this beer pong table last year.  I like how he used lines that give it a checker board basketball court pattern below all the designs.  And of course the colors greatly add not only to the basketball court but also to all the Rutgers designs on it.

Cool Art Work is in the eye of the Beholder

http://www.squidoo.com/coolartwork

Another one I happened to just stumble upon in my boredom.  I really like the color in this one especially in the iris of the eye.  The translucency in the eye really makes the colors look good.  This artist does a great job with lines as well particularly in the eyebrow.

Science Fiction

http://www.scifi.darkroastedblend.com/2008/01/1986-year-in-sf-september.html

I stumbled upon this picture while surfing the web.  I really like how the artist uses lines to give the artwork a three dimensional feel.  While there is definitely a lack of color I think the artist still does a great job of using different shades of black to make the picture seem like it has more colors than just black.
